Looking for brunch in Auckland with stunning views of the city with its famous Sky Tower? Read on for my guide to this secret spot.
After traveling around the back country of New Zealand’s South Island for so long, I’ve found myself looking forward again to the hustle and bustle of city life. And one of my favourite things about cities? A damn good brunch spot. So when I moved to Auckland, I set about trying to find the best place to enjoy this morning ritual in the city. Bestie cafe, it turns out, ticks every box. Not only do they have a mouthwatering brunch menu (my favourite brunch in Auckland even just for food alone) and delicious coffee, their central location just off K Road offers unbeaten views of the Sky Tower, that unmistakable symbol of New Zealand’s biggest city.
This is definitely one of the places where I’d bring any friends or family visiting Auckland for the first time. The location is great for people watching and it’s within walking distance of many of the city’s main attractions. There’s competition to get the best window seat though so I’d recommend visiting at an off-peak time of day when it’s slightly quieter. Full after your meal? Take a stroll in Myers Park just down the road.
Where: St Kevins Arcade on Karangahape Road (“K Road”).
What to order: The halloumi bites are to die for.
Top tip: Get there after the morning rush so you can snag the seat by the window.
Do they do lunch too?: Yep, until 14.30.
