Sometimes we all just need to escape, unplug, relax and unwind. And what better way to do just that than a stay in a remote jungle lodge in Thailand’s stunning Phang Nga region? We only stayed for one night at Baan Nern Suen Jungle Lodge, but it was enough to completely forget the world and find yourself utterly at rest in the present moment.
The accommodation itself is made up of a small group of individual little huts, all equipped with double beds and their own bathroom. You can sit outside on the deck and read while surrounded by the gentle noises of the jungle, green trees and bright flowers. There’s a private wooden jetty on the property, where you can soak up some rays before padding back to the outdoor dining area for some mango sticky rice or a refreshingly cold coconut.
If you’re feeling adventurous, wake up before dawn and hike up to the Samet Nangshe viewpoint, where the sight of the sun rising over Phang Nga Bay will completely take your breath away. Or, take a boat trip out to James Bond Island, the real life film location for The Man With the Golden Gun. However you spend your day, the beauty of the natural Thai landscape will cause all your real-world worries to gradually slip away. Something that we could certainly all do with after the year we’ve had.
When the world eventually becomes safe again, an escape into nature will be the perfect way to heal.
