Sometimes all you need is a home away from home. And with its comfy sofas, fluffy rugs, fully-equipped kitchen and artfully-placed houseplants, you’d be forgiven for not wanting to leave The Dwellington’s cosy interiors (especially when it’s raining outside!). Located in Wellington’s affluent Thorndon area, The Dwellington is the hostel to stay in when you visit New Zealand‘s capital city.
The Dwellington isn’t like other hostels. Instead of grubby dorms littered with smelly socks and their snoring owners, this hostel has artful photography on the walls, a barbecue deck and a state-of-the-art home cinema. It’s sociable, with large dining tables and an outdoor beanbag area, but there are also plenty of quiet nooks to curl up in with a book or guitar for us more introverted types. For those feeling a bit more active, The Dwellington is right next to a tennis and squash club, and guests have full access to the courts. And if that’s not enough to make you want to stay, they also do free breakfast!
Just one major thing to be aware of with The Dwellington: once you check in, you may not want to leave.
