Relaxing in a rooftop pool is something you can only do in fancy, but extortionate, five-star hotels right? Wrong! In Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysiaโs buzzing capital city, there are a huge number of ordinary-looking skyscrapers with little oases of luxury hidden at the top.
You donโt need to book anywhere expensive in KL to experience this. We had simply booked an airbnb in a residential apartment block, where itโs common in KL to find a rooftop pool shared between all the residents of the building. A very welcome respite from the heat of the day, and youโll feel like a million dollars as you gaze over the city around you.
A trip to the 29th floor (gulp) became part of my everyday morning routine when we stayed in KL. Every morning Iโd take the lift up to dizzying heights, before plunging into a beautifully cool and serene pool on the top of our building. This moment of calm at the beginning of the day was the perfect preparation for taking on such a big busy city.
I honestly cannot recommend a better way to experience Kuala Lumpur than this. Nothing beats floating in cool water in the still of the morning, looking out over the cityโs famous skyline, framed by the distinctive Petronas Towers.
