Wine tasting at Quinta de Sant’Ana, one of the most beautiful estates in Portugal
Wine tasting at Quinta de Sant’Ana feels like stepping back in time, or into a fairytale. Nestled between pear orchards, olive groves and rolling vineyards, this is the perfect retreat from the hubbub of modern life. This charming family-run estate, dating back to 1630, is now a hotel, wedding venue and working vineyard. You can book delicious wine tastings and tours of the cellar and grounds.
What is Quinta de Sant’Ana?
Quinta de Sant’Ana pride themselves on blurring the boundaries between cultivated and wild. Vineyards, woodland, orchards and grasslands all merge as far as the eye can see, dotted with peach, walnut, citrus and olive trees. The beautiful setting of Quinta de Sant’Ana means that you can happily while away a whole day, relaxing in the beautiful grounds with a glass of wine in hand, the afternoon sunlight dappled as it filters through green leaves. For those of you seeking a longer respite from busy life, Quinta de Sant’Ana also offer self-catering holiday cottages.
Wine tasting at Quinta de Sant’Ana
During a wine tasting, you will be able to explore the vineyards. There is a winery, barrel room and a pretty 17th century chapel. As well as the beautiful grounds and ivy-covered facade of the house itself. Quinta de Sant’Ana boasts 12 different grape varieties and produces a modest selection of wines. They blend modern technology with ancient wine-making techniques to preserve the authenticity of the wines.
Enjoy the local wine with marinated olives, regional cheeses & toasted crackers. These go especially well with the more full-bodied red wines. All in all, Quinta de Sant’Ana is the perfect escape for a spot of relaxation and indulgence.
How to get to Quinta de Sant’Ana
Quinta de Sant’Ana is situated 12 km from the Atlantic coast and 30 minutes north of Lisbon. The estate can be found just a short drive from Ericeira, a sleepy fishing village on Portugal’s Atlantic coast. The village is known for its pretty centre and attractive surf spots.
